Found them online - http://www.mchardys.co.uk
The website has been "undergoing updating" for a while now.
Calling them for a chat would be prohibitive for me being down here (or up depending on one's perspective).
I've heard good things about them though. Nice rod too. Am taking it out for it's first day tomorrow just before season closes here then working our lakes over winter then off to Tasmania in the spring fo those big bows in the Lakes district.

Guess I'll have to wait unless someone else digs things up.

might be able to help with bits of info , I/ve got a few hobbies, and 1 of them includes collecting fishing tackle catalogues

started about 1969 I think . Looking through them I have Mc.Hardy's for 1986 , they had a good selection of their

own brand rods , a few 11' ones , but I think only 1 that was classed as a 11' for lines 4-9 . made by Fibatube ( I think

part of Hardys of Alnwick ) I'll try and get some photos up on screen later.

cheers frank

Thanks Frank. That's be a great help. Dave (TC)'s initial enquiry to Mchardy's gleaned that it was designed for a 7-8 weight. What the deuce the 4-9 is for, I want to figure out.

I tried the rod out this weekend with a standard 9 weight WF Floating.
The rod is quite heavy compared to what we use today given that it would be old carbon fibre technology. So it felt like a tree branch at first and after the first couple of false casts, I decided to think of it as a medium/fast saltwater rod in order to compensate. Well, the first cast was atrocious but threw a good 65 feet. After some 10 - 20 minutes, I was easily throwing 75 to 80 feet without any effort or any double-hauling and indeed minimal false casting. The rod just picks up any amount of line and just heaves it! Not bad for a single hander I thought.
Well, I finally threw a 90! First time for everything! I now think this will be a beauty on our lakes over the winter and spring here, chasing those very large 'bows down deep and those wily big browns that won't let you get within 25 metres of them. It will also get me close to those wind lanes that just hang out of reach. Not a very forgiving stick though, but that could just be me.

No, Dave, never awaken the beast mate! You've been married long enough to know I suspect.

Sorry about the delay in replying lads and lasses
the MCHardy web site is as followes (there address is on the site )

http://www.mchardys.co.uk/

as for any more info on the rod i cant find out much more than ive already posted
best line weight 7-8~# suitable for salmon ect .
the rod is very springy and loads up very well .
its very forgiving when fighting a fish and handles a big fish with ease .

regards
